‘Sim to be deputy agriculture minister’
BAYAN LEPAS: Deputy PKR Youth chief Dr Afif Bahardin has revealed that Bayan Baru member of parliament Sim Tze Tzin is set to become deputy agriculture and agro-based industry minister.
Afif, speaking after officiating the Penang Fishermen Association annual general meeting yesterday, said PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah would also be appointed ministers.
He said Saifuddin Nasution would be domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism minister, while Saifuddin Abdullah will be foreign minister.
“PKR vice-president Dr Xavier Jayakumar will be water, land and natural resources minister.
“Sarawak PKR chairman Baru Bian will be works minister.”
Previously, two PKR leaders were named to the cabinet — president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail appointed as deputy prime minister and women, family and community development minister; deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali as economic affairs minister; and, women’s chief Zuraidah Kamaruddin as housing and local government minister.
Afif, who is state Agriculture and Agro-based Industries, Rural Development and Health executive councillor, said PKR vicepresident Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin was set to become primary industry minister, while Sungai Buloh MP R. Sivarasa would be deputy rural and community development minister.
“Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Kamarudin Jaffar will be deputy transport minister, while Kuala Pilah MP Eddin Syazlee (Shith) will be deputy communications and multimedia minister.
“Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin will be deputy agriculture and agro-based industry minister, while Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh will be deptuty minister in the Prime Minster’s Department (for religious affairs).”
DAP’s Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching, who is likely to be made deputy education minister, said the cabinet list that went viral was not the final line-up.
Teo, who is DAP international secretary, said she would wait until the swearing-in ceremony at the Istana Negara on Monday.
“I am well prepared to accept any position relating to the education portfolio, women’s rights and gender equality.”
