3 Kedah MPs yet to be officially informed about possible appointment

-

ALOR STAR: Three members of parliament from Kedah are in the dark over their appointment as a minister or deputy minister.

The three said they had yet to receive any information on the matter from Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

It is understood the three are MPs for Kulim-Bandar Baharu, Kubang Pasu and Pokok Sena.

It is learnt that Kulim-BandarBaharu MP Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will be made domestic trade, cooperatives and consumerism minister, Kubang Pasu MP Datuk Amiruddin Hamzah as deputy finance minister and Pokok Sena MP Datuk Mahfuz Omar as deputy human resources minister.

However, Saifuddin said he had yet to be officially informed of the matter and would issue a statement only after the prime minister made his announcement.

Amiruddin said he only learnt about the matter through unofficial sources, and that no one from the Prime Minister’s Department had contacted him yet.

“I cannot comment further, as I am yet to be told officially and only received information on the matter through rumours.”

Mahfuz said he did not want to rely on unofficial sources as they could be false.

“I don’t know anything and have not been informed. (I only have) information that has gone viral.”
