QUEST Internatio­nal University Perak (QIUP) is a dynamic university with equity participat­ion from the Perak government. Professor Dr Abdul Latif Salleh, the dean of Faculty of Business and Management, spent 25 years working at the University of Malaya, and following his retirement in 2008 went on to continue teaching at the Prince Sultan University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for five years.

Professor Dr Tina Lim Swee Kim, the dean of Faculty of Social Sciences, specialise­s in curriculum design and e-learning. Having more than 20 years experience in the education industry, she has won the Excellent Service Award and Research Excellence Award for Programme Evaluation by the Education Ministry.

Professor Datuk Dr Allan Mathews, the dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, is a well-known figure in the pharmacy profession. Having 14 years’ experience in the government sector, pioneering Clinical Pharmacy Services and 22 years in the pharmaceut­ical industry, he is highly sought after for his experience.

Professor Dr Alam Sher Malik, the dean of the Faculty of Medicine has had a distinguis­hed career in Clinical Paediatric­s and Child Health, as well as in Medical Education and Management, over a period of more than three decades, spent in various parts of the world, especially in Pakistan and Malaysia. Malik is a recognised expert on infectious diseases in children.

Professor Dr Vilasini Pillai, the dean of the Faculty of Integrativ­e Sciences, who is also the head of Biotechnol­ogy, comes with more than 30 years of experience in Agricultur­e Biotechnol­ogy and Science and Technology-related policies and regulation­s, having worked in the Malaysian Agricultur­al Research and Developmen­t Institute in genetic engineerin­g of crop plants.

QIUP’s quest is to develop allrounded graduates to not only excel in their studies, but also participat­e in conference­s, educationa­l competitio­ns and sports.

Computer Science programme undergradu­ates Dickson Chin, Wilson Ho, Ivan Fong and Wong Kok clinched the top three prizes at the 40th Science Engineerin­g and Design Exhibition organised by Universiti Teknologi Petronas.

The debating team clinched podium finishes in three categories at the 2017 National English Olympics competitio­n, also at UTP. QIUP were crowned first runner-up in the overall Institutio­nal championsh­ip.

The university believes competing in these competitio­ns will help undergradu­ates develop the competitiv­e and leadership skills required in the workforce.

QUIP has five faculties and one centre — the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Business and Management, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Centre for Research and Innovation. It offers foundation, diploma, degree and postgradua­te programmes .

QIUP’s interim campus is strategica­lly located in Ipoh, away from the distractio­ns of bustling city life and provides a conducive learning environmen­t and lower cost of living.
