GET set to match all of this year’s summer outfits with the season’s hottest must-have accessory: The basket bag, made from woven straw, cane, bamboo, hessian or rattan. After taking the runways by storm, these natural, rustic-feeling bags will bring a bucolic twist to this season’s looks — perfectly in keeping with the summer vacation vibe.

This season’s hottest accessorie­s trends were previewed at the spring/summer 2018 fashion shows.

Along with see-through Perspex bags and net bags, one of this summer’s biggest must-haves is the woven basket-style bag, with straw, cane, rattan, bamboo and hessian creations.

Tory Burch, Elie Saab and Loewe are just some of the brands that featured these chic and bohemian retro accessorie­s in their collection­s.

Kate Spade New York created a crocodile-shaped basket bag, while Miu Miu showed colourful models made from two materials. Ion Fiz, on the other hand, sent male models down the runway with basket bags. without breaking the bank.

Models are available in a variety of materials and in all kinds of shapes and sizes, including large baskets, woven shoppers, round cross-body bags and structured geometric versions.

Influencer­s, models and other style icons have all adopted the basket bag as the ultimate SS18 accessory for their romantic, hippie-chic or even casual outfits.

In the early days of spring, fashion blogger and businesswo­man Chiara Ferragni was already seen sporting an ultra-chic and modern model finished in two materials.
