BY Eggs is the latest skincare brand by homegrown entrepreneurs Quinnie Chong and Michelle Tan. Revolving around the concept of fun food for the skin, By Eggs launched its first product, Gelato Clay Masks, last November.

Apart from kaolin clay and natural exfoliants, the products are infused with ingredients such as walnut granules and coffee powder and natural plant extracts to suit different skin needs.

TWO-IN-ONE

The masks come in five variants - Breakfast Cereal Moisturising Clay Mask, Summer Lavender Relaxing Clay Mask, Peppermint Crush Brightening Clay Mask, Watermelon Sorbet Soothing Clay Mask and Tiramisu Deep Cleansing Clay Mask.

I tried the Summer Lavender Relaxing Clay Mask and Peppermint Crush Brightening Clay Mask. The former is meant to give skin a relaxing treat while the latter brightens the complexion.

Soft and creamy, the clay mask is packaged in a cute tub (think ice-cream tub) and comes with a plastic scoop.

For both products, I stirred the clay mask before applying a thin layer on my face, as recommended.

After 10 minutes, I wet my face to soften the hardened mask. Since the mask can also be used as a scrub, I gently scrubbed my face as I rinsed it off.

Both variants delivered as promised: I enjoyed the calming scent and relaxing treat of the Summer Lavender variant. The Peppermint Crush variant did make skin fresher, softer and slightly clearer.

However, I experienced a slight stinging sensation on my face while I left the mask to harden. Perhaps the mask should not be applied on bruised skin.

Priced at RM69 (100g), the product can last up to six months in the fridge.
