Duit raya for the needy

MORE than 500 Multimedia University (MMU) students and staff joined a buka puasa event to contribute

RM11,300 duit raya to a group of 40 needy people for Raya.

Held at the university’s Surau Al-Hidayah,

Majlis Iftar Perdana 2018 is an annual event.

Recipients of the contribution were low-income earners. Most are general workers from Sepang, Dengkil and Puchong in Selangor. They received RM200 to RM500 each from MMU president Professor Datuk Dr Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq.

“Through this corporate social responsibility effort, we are pleased to help ease the burden of the needy people.”

Ahmad also presented MMU’s zakat of RM50, 000 to Lembaga Zakat Selangor.

Syafia Hamzah, 48, expressed her gratitude for contribution, which allowed her to buyclothes and other things for her children.

“I would like to thank MMU for making sure that we can celebrate Aidilfitri like others.”

Suhufah Mat Yunus, 48, a mother of three, said she could buy more things with the money.

The event was jointly organised by MMU’s Badan Kebajikan Islam Telekom Malaysia (Bakit), Yayasan Universiti Multimedia, Human Capital Management and Surau AlHidayah.

Present were Bakit chairman Dr Mohd Nazri Mohd Nor, HCM MMU senior director Mohd Amin Abdullah Sani and Surau Al-Hidayah chairman Rosli Ishak.
