POLICE ASK INTERPOL TO ISSUE RED NOTICE FOR MUSA AMAN
IGP says red notice issued against ex-CM, which makes him wanted for extradition
POLICE are seeking assistance from the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) to locate former Sabah chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, who is reportedly in the United Kingdom.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said a Red Notice had been issued, listing Musa as one of the people wanted for extradition.
Fuzi said Musa had issued a statement saying that he was in the UK to seek medical treatment, as well as for personal reasons.
“I think he (Musa) had issued a statement. We have issued a Red Notice and will take action in accordance with the law as soon as he returns to Malaysia,” he said after attending the police contingents’ and districts’ Op Selamat excellence award ceremony in Bukit Aman here yesterday.
Musa, who is former Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman, is believed to be in London based on pictures of him which went viral.
It had prompted speculation that the Sungai Sibuga assemblyman had illegally left the country as the Immigration Department had no record of him doing so.
On a separate matter, Fuzi said police had yet to arrest Umno Sungai Besar division chief Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos following rumours of him being detained a few days.
“There were claims that Jamal is in Riau and Batam, Indonesia.
“I have checked the matter with the Indonesian authorities who had confirmed that there was no arrest yet.
“Nevertheless, they (Indonesian authorities) are assisting us in determining Jamal’s whereabouts,” he said.
