Felda association pursuing shares, hotel issues

-

PUTRAJAYA: Persatuan Anak Peneroka Felda Kebangsaan (Anak) has lodged reports with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on embezzlement and abuse of power involving entities under Felda.

Its deputy president, Mohd Nasaie Ismail, said one of the reports was on the sale of Koperasi Permodalan Felda (KPF) Bhd stocks to Felda Global Ventures (FGV).

Two other reports, he said, were on the purchase of hotels in Kensington, London; Kuching, Sarawak; and, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, by Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) and the purchase of Eagle High Plantation by Felda subsidiary FIC Properties.

“These reports were made following the MACC chief commissioner’s new commitment to reopen old cases. It is in line with efforts to reform Felda and getting back the money that was embezzled.”

Nasaie claimed that FGV paid KPF for its shares in 2013, with approval from the latter’s board of directors, at a rate which was lower than the market price.

On the purchase of a four-star hotel in Kensington, he claimed that FIC paid about RM330 million when the market price then was RM110 million.

“There has been no progress since former Felda chairman Tan Sri Isa Samad and several senior officers were detained,” he said.

He added that FIC Properties had purchased 37 per cent of Eagle High Plantation shares belonging to Rajawali Group in Indonesia for RM2.26 billion.

“This has been widely criticised by market analysts, who said it was too high compared with the market value,” Nasaie said.
