ABUSINESSWOMAN in Kelantan became the owner of the most expensive tudung sold this year with a purchase of a RM33,000 headscarf adorned with Swarovski crystals.

The most expensive tudung sold before that was a RM21,600 custom-tailored headscarf, which was also produced by Bawal Exclusive’s (BE) As Galleria (AG) in Lembah Sireh here.

AG manager Rabiatu Hasmak Ghani said the prices of tudung depended on the design and number of Swarovski crystals, which made BE a luxurious and exclusive brand.

She said last year, AG contributed RM6 million to the total sales of BE scarves, with prices ranging from RM60 to thousands of ringgit.

“The increase in sales was recorded during the festive season and was apparent after the implementation of zero-rated Goods and Sales Tax (GST) last month.

“Online vending contributed to 30 per cent of the overall sales,” she said at a gala dinner with BE’s loyal customers at Hotel Renaissance here recently.

Present were Bawal Exclusive Sdn Bhd founder Haliza Maysuri, Southeast Asia and New Zealand Swarovski managing director Sebastian Cox and As Galleria Sdn Bhd director Mohd Saifullizan Mokhtar.

One of the customers present, Hanuni Farda Habir, 38, had purchased headscarves with a total value of RM96,000 in the past year.

“I buy headscarves for my own satisfaction, apart from selling them online.

“I like BE headscarves because the materials used are comfortable and suit those who prefer exclusive designs,” she said.
