Malaysian having a ball in Moscow
was “part of the act” in the World Cup last-16 match between Russia and Spain at the Luzhniki Stadium on Moscow on Sunday.
Adam Riezman Roslan was picked as a mascot for the World Cup showdown.
The Form Two student of SMK Meru, Klang, carried the ball out of the stadium tunnel for the match.
His father, Roslan Mohd Nor said yesterday he was happy to see his third child being part of the World Cup and getting to meet world class players like Sergio Ramos, David de Gea, Isco, Gerard Pique and Igor Akinfeev.
Roslan, 54, said his son earned the opportunity by winning a competition organised by KIA Motor Malaysia where he beat 400 others for the trip.
“He shook hands with Ramos. It is a dream come true for Adam as he is a huge fan of Real Madrid. He also idolises Cristiano Ronaldo. Although he did not get to meet Ronaldo, he was still happy.
“Ramos put his hand out to my son. He could not believe it. I was watching the match ‘live’ on television and it was a proud moment for me,” said Roslan, a factory canteen operator.
Adam’s mother, Syarin Syahrina Ahmad, 43, said her son has been playing football since his primary school days.
“I had wanted to go to Russia with him as KIA allocated two tickets but I could not as I had to operate the factory canteen. My younger sister (Nani Suhana Ahmad) followed him instead.
“I am proud of my son. He is a good boy. He helps us at the canteen and also cooks dishes.
“He never gives up and his win in the KIA competition helped him achieve his dream of being part of the World Cup,” said Syarin.
