MRC RELEASES REPAIR TIME DATA

Bid to ‘improve transparency and provide better quality estimates’ for Proton vehicles

-

MOTORDATA Research Consortium Sdn Bhd (MRC) has released detailed research data on repair times for Proton vehicles, following a partnership agreement signed with Thatcham Research and Proton Holdings Bhd last year.

The data seeks to provide the motor vehicle repair and motor insurance claims processing industry with accurate, vehiclespecific repair times based on ac- tual Proton vehicle models.

MRC chief executive officer (CEO) Steve Miller said with the data, the local motor insurance and vehicle repair industry could confidently produce accurate vehicle repair estimates using detailed repair information specifically for the local market.

“This will improve transparency and provide better quality repair estimates guided by standard maintenance repair works,” he said.

Appointed by General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM), with endorsement of Bank Negara Malaysia, MRC provides and manages a national automobile parts price and vehicle repair times database for use in creating accurate and transparent motor insurance claims.

The Proton vehicle repair times data was generated using MRC’s research expertise, information from Proton and Thatcham Research’s PLAZA system.

Proton Edar Sdn Bhd CEO Abdul Rashid Musa said guided by this data, Proton dealers would be able to ensure the correct repair process was stated and carried out for damages incurred.

The nine Proton models included in the research were the Exora, Savvy, Gen 2, Inspira, Subprima S, New Persona, Preve, Iriz and New Saga, including 48 variants.

“MRC has always focused on helping improve the local motor vehicle repair and motor insurance claims processing industry. We will continue to introduce new technologies and critical information into Malaysia’s vehicle body repair industry,” said Miller.

This will improve transparency and provide better quality repair estimates guided by standard maintenance repair works. STEVE MILLER
