Padi Reborn’s vocalist Fadly led an energetic performance at KL Live last weekend. 55 and Save My Soul at 110.

Acknowledging its fan base in Malaysia, the reunited band recently put up the concert — Padi Reborn Exclusive Live In KL.

Some 2,000 fans thronged the concert venue KL Live on Jalan Sultan Ismail in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. The concert was presented by Qew Communications.

The band brought their fans down memory lane with its songs.

Some fans, who had probably grown up listening to the band in the late 1990s, came to the concert dressed up to look like they were back in those years.

The audience warmed up to songs by the evening’s opening act by local group Pitahati, which belted out Cahaya Buta, Sahabat and Bintang Biru Kristal Salju.

Just before Padi Reborn took to the stage, the audience was treated to a special video narrating its development.

At 9pm, the band kicked off the concert with Sang Penghibur.

The concert hall became livelier by the time the band performed the second song, Begitu Indah. The audience sang along to the song first released in 1999.

Besides Pitahati, the concert featured 15-year-old local drummer Amira Syahira who accompanied Yoyo for the song Bayangkanlah.

That evening, Padi Reborn performed 17 songs from its five studio albums released between 1999 and 2007, when the band was called Padi.

Other songs included Lingkaran, Mahadewi, Ternyata Cinta, Semua Tak Sama, Seperti Kekasih, Menanti Semua Jawaban, Tempat Terakhir and Sesuatu Yang Indah. Piyu also rendered the song Harmoni. Award-winning singer-songwriter Aizat Amdan was one of the concert’s guest performers. He sang the band’s number Kasih Tak Sampai together with Fadly before he performed his single Sampai Hari Tua.

It was quite a performance from the duo, who received quite an applause.

At 11pm, the band finally performed the number Sobat, the term the band calls its fans.

For an encore, it performed Hitam. Celebrities at the concert included Ella, Nabila Huda, Wan Sharmila and Ippo Hafiz.
