Hanipa stable after falling off stage in Putrajaya

-

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohamed Hanipa Maidin is getting better.

“Hanipa, who collapsed this morning (yesterday), is in hospital and in stable condition,” he said when asked by the media on Hanipa’s condition.

Dr Mahathir said this after chairing the Cabinet Special Committee on Anti-Corruption meeting here yesterday.

Hanipa fell off the stage at the Prime Minister’s Department’s monthly morning assembly at Dataran Bangunan Perdana Putra yesterday. Those present were shocked. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who was on stage next to Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, rushed to Hanipa to offer assistance.

The paramedic team arrived shortly, placed Hanipa on a stretcher and rushed him to Putrajaya Hospital.

Dr Mahathir was shocked into silence by the incident. He later resumed the briefing. In 2016, Hanipa, who is Sepang member of parliament, underwent surgery after suffering a stroke.

He spent time at the Intensive Care Unit of Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
