Syed Saddiq: I’ve yet to appoint press secretary
PUTRAJAYA: Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said he is finalising the appointment of several officers in his ministry.
“I am studying the resumes received since last week.
“I have not appointed my press secretary officially,” he said.
He said this at the Youth and Sports Ministry lobby here after receiving information that a group calling itself the Malaysian LGBT rights advocacy group would hold a peaceful assembly at the ministry to protest against Syed
Saddiq’s non admission that he had appointed an LGBT advocate as his officer.
However, reporters who waited as early as 8am found that the group did not turn up.
Syed Saddiq said investigations were being conducted at the ministry level to identify the parties responsible for listing Numan Afifi Saadan’s name as his officer as no official appointment had been made.
The list that included Numan Afifi’s name as an officer at the youth and sports ministry went viral recently and received criticism as the individual concerned was believed to be involved in a Pride Day breaking-of-fast event last year.
