Cops completing probe into baby’s death

-

PETALING JAYA: Police are close to completing investigations into the death of 5-month-old Adam Rayqal Mohd Sufi.

State police chief Datuk Mazlan Mansor said investigations were about 90 per cent done, with only a few details left to be ironed out before the investigation papers could be handed over to the deputy public prosecutor for action.

“We will hand over the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor this week.

“Our investigations show that only the 33-year-old babysitter is suspected to be involved (in the death of the child).

“We will ask for an extension to her remand order tomorrow (Tuesday).

“The babysitter’s housemate, 36, will be freed as soon as her remand order expires,” he said.

Last Wednesday, Adam Rayqal was reported missing along with his babysitter by his family, who initially suspected that she had run off with him.

However, later the same day his body was found stuffed in the freezer of the woman’s house in Jalan Nakhoda Kiri Tiga in Batu Caves.

A post-mortem revealed that the boy died of a brain haemorrhage, having suffered a fracture to the left side of his skull.
