‘Cops yet to receive word from Najib’s reps on suit’
KUALA LUMPUR: Police will take a “wait and see” approach to Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s statement that he will file a suit against the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID).
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said police had yet to receive any word from Najib or his representatives about his claims that CCID’s raids and seizures against him did not follow standard operating procedures (SOP).
He said police were aware of the suit filed by Najib against the three senior investigators involved in the probe into 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
“We have yet to receive any word from Najib’s representatives regarding the suit. We want to see which part of the SOP we allegedly did not follow,” he said yesterday.
“We will wait until he takes action or files an application over the issue. This has to do with the provisions of the law, so we have to wait and see.”
Najib recently filed an originating summons against CCID director Datuk Seri Amar Singh, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull and Attorney-General Tommy Thomas.
He claimed that they were prejudiced against him.
