COURT EXTENDS REMAND ORDER FOR BABYSITTER

Her 36-year-old roommate released on police bail

THE Selayang magistrate’s court here yesterday extended the remand order of a 33year-old babysitter in connection with the death of 5-month-old Adam Rayqal Mohd Sufi.

Magistrate Nurul Izzah Hasan Basri ordered the remand extension to start today until July 17.

The babysitter and another woman, aged 36, were remanded for a week last Wednesday to facilitate investigat­ions into the death of the baby.

Their remand period ended yesterday.

The 36-year-old woman was released on police bail yesterday.

It was reported that Adam Rayqal went missing from the babysitter’s house at 6.30pm on July 3.

His body was found in a freezer by the police later that night. The babysitter, along with her housemate, were detained to facilitate investigat­ion. A post-mortem at Kuala Lumpur Hospital revealed that the baby died of head injuries due to blunt force trauma.
