Selangor win men’s doubles event

Wan Nadzmi Fikri Faisal-Arif Iskandar Azahar overcame the pressure to perform by winning the men’s doubles event at the Interstate Championships yesterday.

The duo posted a combined sixgame 2,493 total to successfully defend Selangor’s gold medal in the event thanks to Alex LiewAhmad Muaz Fishol last year.

Negri Sembilan’s Shamsul Riza Sahar-Noor Afizal Azizan claimed the silver on 2,404, while teammates Fadli Ramli-Al Qayyum Syafiq settled for the bronze on 2,380.

“Sarawak are always the favourites in the doubles, but somehow their bowlers could not do well today (yesterday).

“Once we took the lead in the fifth game, we just maintained our play,” said Wan Nadzmi, who together with his partner are making their maiden appearance in the men’s event.
