-

KUALA LUMPUR: Hyatt Hotels Corp, a global hospitality company, plans to open the first and largest Hyatt House branch in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.

Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur Mont’Kiara general manager Bennett Peter said the branch would be operational in the third quarter of this year.

Meanwhile, its branch in Melaka is under construction and expected to be ready in the next two years.

“We are also exploring avenues to open our hotels in locations around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor as well as other cities outside Klang Valley such as Penang, Ipoh and Langkawi,” he said at a media briefing here recently.

Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur Mont’Kiara is an extended stay hotel (ESH) located within Arcoris Mont Kiara development area.

It offers a contemporary stay experience in casual home-style comfort, ensuring that guests feel more like residents, symbolic of the Hyatt House brand.

The hotel has 298 guest rooms and other facilities, including a restaurant, a 3,100-sq-ft meeting room, a fitness centre and a top floor pool.

Hyatt House is one of Hyatt Hotels’ four-star offerings and offers the same quality as its other products but at lower prices.

Benett said the hotel is focused on ESH with specially designed rooms equipped with a living room, kitchen and bedroom to cater to extended stay customers.

He said ESH is a new trend that has become the most preferred mode of stay in China, is wellreceived in the United States and is becoming increasingly common in Asia.

“The Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur Mont’Kiara is the world’s largest and the first of its kind in Southeast Asia,” he said.

Benett is confident of the country’s market potential and described the venture as timely.

“We are optimistic about Malaysia as the country is strategically located at the crossroads of Asia, has attractive tourist locations, fluent English-speaking citizens and a strong well-developed economy”, he added.
