Selangor Pas still mulling over suitable candidate

-

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Pas has yet to choose a candidate for the impending Sungai Kandis by-election.

State Pas commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi said, at present, there had been no attempts from its Umno counterparts to contact Pas about possible cooperation for the Aug 4 election.

“There will be a meeting at the Pas headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

“For now, I do not know if the central leadership has any candidate in mind.”

Sallehen, however, said Selangor Pas had already proposed the names of its candidates for the by-election to the central leadership.

However, he declined to elaborate.

“We have a candidate. Maybe the previous candidate (for the 14th General Election), or if we want a new one, there is someone in mind as well.

“All we have decided for now is that we will be standing.”

On whether Selangor Pas was ready to work with Umno should the party’s central leadership decide to do so, Sallehen said he would defer to the judgment of party leaders.

Selangor Umno deputy liaison committee chairman Datuk Mat Nadzari Ahmad Dahlan said the party was waiting for Pas to contact its state leadership.

He said Umno had yet to decide on a candidate but would be meeting soon.
