8,000 visitors attended the inaugural Ram Jam Festival at Gasket Alley in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, over the weekend, making it one of the most successful bike events in Malaysia this year.

The festival combined a vintage carnival with a night club scene, where there were live bands and an Octoberfest-like ambience.

The music was replaced at the end of the night with the screening of the World Cup football final between France and Croatia.

Those uninterested in football were entertained by skate jam sessions and art exhibitions. Visitors had a huge array of food trucks to choose from.

At the vintage carnival, visitors had a close look at classic machines, such as the Impala, made popular by the television series ‘Supernatural’.

Motorcycle enthusiasts got to view the latest models from Harley Davidson and Moto Guzzi, which are the main stay of Gasket Alley.

“Worldwide, it’s a challenge to get youngsters interested in motorcycles, especially brands like Harley Davidson,” said Juan Chow Wee, Didi Resources Sdn Bhd general manager.

“Events like Ram Jam combine the lifestyle of the young with our motorcycle.”

Didi Resources head of branding Liyana Abdullah said Ram Jam had received the endorsement of Tourism Malaysia.

“Ram Jam Festival was included in Tourism Malaysia’s newsletter recently,” she said, adding that Tourism Malaysia would give full support to Gasket Alley for future collaborations.

Singer Noh Salleh, a biker, was one of the celebrities seen at the Ram Jam festival. The other was former deputy prime minister Tun Musa Hitam.
