- HI-REV Ahirudin Ahirine

Racing has launched three new “satellite teams” alongside an arsenal of new racing machines to drive the “return to the race track” challenge it has set for itself this year.

The three new teams are the HiRev SCK Racing Team, the Hi-Rev Jobaru Piaww Racing Team and the Hi-Rev Dream Chaser Racing Team.

The teams will use 13 bikes and two cars to take part in the Asia Road Racing Championship 2018, the Malaysia Superbike Championship 2018, MSF Superbikes 2018, the King of 2T 2018, MSF Racing Series 2018 and Malaysia Championship Series 2018.

Present at the launch of teams and machines in Genting Highlands were Hi-Rev general manager Valerie Poon and team principals Soong Chee Kiong (SCK), Md Sees (Jobaru Piaww) and CY Ong (Dream Chaser).

Satellite team means the team is managed by another team owner. HIREV comes in as technical sponsor and work with them to develop lubricants used in racing.

Also present were Hi-Rev’s Young Talent Programme stars Adam Khalid and Danial Bogers.

The main challenge for the 2018 season was Hi-Rev Racing’s “return to the race track” for car motorsport and the popular two-stroke motorcycle engine races, said Nicholas Hoh, the branding consultant for Posim Petroleum Marketing Sdn Bhd, which owns Hi-Rev Racing.

“Decades ago, we were successful in racing but we had to undertake some business restructuring, which affected our racing activities. It has taken us three years to plan this racing team and 2018 marks the year we get back into four-wheel racing.”

For the MSF Racing Series, HI-REV will use a Proton Saga and a Proton Satria Neo for the Saga Cup and the Race Car 1600 class, respectively. The Proton Satria Neo will race in the MSC 2018.

HI-REV will enter the MSF Superbike Series next month with two Kawasaki Ninjas 250R (for the Super 400 class) and three Kawasaki KIPS 150RR (for the King of 2T championship).

SCK Rapido HI-REV Honda Racing Team started off Round 1 of the Asia Road Racing Championship 2018 in March, winning first place in the Underbone 150 Series in Thailand and clinched another first for the same category in Japan last month on a Honda RS150.

Last year, HI-REV’s first year with SCK Racing, it finished first place in Malaysia, Japan and India — securing three wins out of six rounds in the Asia Road Racing Championship.

The Malaysia Superbike Championship saw HI-REV competing in most of the classes and successfully bagged several podiums in Round 1, with a first place in Superstock, second and third place in Supersport, and second place in Super 250.

Danial Bogers is currently second in the Super 250 Championship, while SCK Rapido Hi-Rev Honda Racing Team riders are in first and third spots in the Supersport Championship.

Hi-Rev offers a full line of lubrication solutions for industrial and commercial user-sectors and is a member of Lion Group of Companies, which has diversified business interests in steel manufacturing, retails and trading and property development.

At the event, HI-REV unveiled its latest performance lubricant for cars, the TorQe PRO Premium Motor Oil.

The synthetic product, described as a unique blend of PAO with Ester Plus technology for exceptional performance in engine lubrication and protection against thermal stress to maintain excellent performance in high power densities engines, retails at RM280 for a 4L tin pack.
