Pilgrims from Dengkil receive RM500 aid

-

DENGKIL: A total of 185 pilgrims here received incentives of RM500 each through the Haji Muassasah, Selangor Darul Ehsan 2018 Incentive programme on Friday.

One of the recipients, Asri Harun, 50, thanked the Selangor government for its contribution to ease their burden.

He said the aid would be used for his expenses during the haj trip with wife, Nor Azah Md Hashim, 50.

“I’m truly blessed to be given the opportunity to perform the haj this year.

“I had turned downed an offer in 2009 because my children were still young and schooling,” he said at the incentive handingover ceremony at the Dengkil State Assembly Office.

The incentives were handed out by Dengkil state assemblyman Adhif Syan Abdullah.

The programme was introduced by the state government through Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) to ease the burden of pilgrims.

A total of RM3.25 million was allocated by the state government for 6,500 future haj pilgrims under the programme.

Adhif Syan said the incentives were part of MBI’s corporate social responsibility, with the application of the programme’s first series for Dengkil opened in the middle of this month. It will close on Oct 9.

“We are still receiving applications and consideration will be given to deserving applicants.

“As the newly-elected assemblyman, I will strive hard to look after the welfare of the people, in line with the Pakatan Harapan election manifesto.”
