XIAOMI LIGHTWEIGHT LAPTOP

MANY associate the Xiaomi brand with smartphones that deliver plenty of bang for your hard-earned ringgit, straddling the middle ground of price versus performance.

The company has long branched off into other aspects of consumer electronics such as fitness trackers and home-based appliances. Its horizon now includes an Ultrabook in the form of the Xiaomi Mi Laptop Air.

It is a 13.3-inch Ultrabook that offers both design and performance in a single, comprehensive flagship package.

While the Mi Air might be extremely lightweight at a mere 1.3kg, it comes with the right kind of hardware to ensure that there is no compromise when it concerns performance.

The all-metal body carries a thickness of just 14.8mm, allowing you to slide it into your backpack easily when travelling.

In terms of display quality, however, there is nothing much to shout about here. The 1,920 x 1,080 resolution (Full HD) display is pretty much on par for the course, although the saving grace will be a 5.59mm supernarrow bezel that makes it look as though there is far more viewing real estate available.

Underneath the hood lies an 8th generation Intel Core processor, accompanied by an integrated GeForce MX150 graphics chipset alongside

8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD.

Such a configuration is more than adequate to deliver the kind of performance levels expected at the office, with the ability to play back videos seamlessly.

Each Xiaomi Mi Laptop Air is pre-installed with Windows 10 Home Edition to help you get started right out of the box, apart from support for the Windows Hello feature via fingerprint for increased security and productivity.

Other hardware enhancements include a cooling system that will help keep the running temperature low for greater comfort, premium Dolby audio speakers and a battery life that will be able to last the distance.

Expect the 13.3-inch Xiaomi Mi Laptop Air to retail for €899.99 (RM4,248) when it is available later this year.
