Bosch net sales hits RM5.2b

PETALING JAYA: Bosch Malaysia ended its 2017 fiscal year with total net sales of RM5.2 billion, an almost eight per cent growth compared to the previous year.

Its consolidat­ed local sales amounted to RM615 million last year, enabling it to remain the secondlarg­est regional revenue contributo­r for Robert Bosch GmbH for the third consecutiv­e year, with its stable year-on-year performanc­e.

The number of local Bosch associates grew by three per cent to more than 2,800 last year, making up almost 30 per cent of Bosch’s total workforce in the region.

“Last year saw a strong market push towards connected solutions across our business segments,” said Bosch Malaysia managing director Simon Song in a statement.

“Leveraging on our strength in the areas of connectivi­ty, we are set to expand our service offerings based on the Internet of Things. They include providing connected manufactur­ing software and solutions for industries, developing and manufactur­ing more Web-enabled products for end-users and being a business enabler by collaborat­ing with local companies to bring the country ahead in its digital transforma­tion journey,” he added.

Bosch Malaysia increased its capital expenditur­e by 50 per cent and invested RM236 million last year, mainly to equip the company’s manufactur­ing sites with Bosch’s Industry 4.0 solutions.

On the outlook for this year, Song said it was aiming for higher growth despite the difficult economic climate.
