E-LPS system in Camerons to kick off next year
KUANTAN: The e-LPS (electronic-temporary occupation licence) system in Cameron Highlands will be implemented starting next year.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the system had been installed at Cameron Highlands district and land office, but has yet to be utilised due to ongoing datagathering.
“Data upgrading on the e-LPS system is being carried out. The system will be in place once information is keyed in and licences are renewed.
“The electronic land administration system (e-Tanah) will be implemented next year,” he said in reply to a question by Chiong Yoke Kong (DAP-Tanah Rata) yesterday.
Wan Rosdy said under e-LPS system, new applications, renewals and expiry of TOL, and applications status could be processed online.
It would be implemented next year with e-Tanah system.
“The e-LPS system in Cameron Highlands is a pilot project by the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry.
“We want to ensure the system is complete before it is implemented,” he said.
The system would allow the authorities to better monitor farm operators and land encroachment, which has been a longstanding issue in Cameron Highlands.
Wan Rosdy said 37 schools in Pahang had been placed under observation due to disciplinary and other issues.
He said 30 schools had been identified with major disciplinary problems while the rest had both disciplinary and other problems among the students.
“The schools have been identified as hot spots for necessary measures, including school liaison officer appointments and prevention programmes for students,” he said in reply to a supplementary question by Lee Chin Chen (DAP- Bilut).
Earlier when replying to a written question from Lee, Wan Rosdy told the state assembly that the state government had identified nine measures to reduce the crime rate in Pahang, including crime prevention programmes.
