Pikom targets RM370m GMV from #MyCyberSale
KUALA LUMPUR: The National Information and Communications Technology Association of Malaysia (Pikom) is targeting RM370 million in gross merchandise value (GMV) for its fifth #MyCyberSale 2018, compared with RM311 million last year.
The country’s biggest annual online sales festival set for September 3-7 is also expected to collect RM50 million in export revenue, up from RM39 million last year.
“The event has proven to be a great platform for merchants in Malaysia to be part of the e-commerce ecosystem and contribute to the domestic and export ecommerce revenue,” said Pikom chairman Ganesh Kumar Bangah.
“In line with its theme ‘Driving Growth through Omni-channel Commerce’, #MyCyberSale 2018 aims to encourage micro-enterprises to adopt an omni-channel approach for their businesses to reduce dependency on social media private messaging sales.”
Pikom is also targeting 1,200 merchants for the event, with exporters expecting to make up half the number. More than 600 merchants have registered since the soft launch on July 10.
#MyCyberSale grew from strength to strength under the leadership of Malaysia Digital Economy Corp (MDEC) when it registered RM67 million in GMV in 2014, RM117.7 million in 2015 and RM211 million in 2016.
MDEC chief operating officer Datuk Ng Wan Peng said #MyCyberSale was a platform for the micro-enterprise community to build its brand and customer base in Malaysia and beyond.
Industry players can register for the #MyCyberSale 2018 by July 31 through www.mycybersale.my. Registration is free.
