Razed Ferrari owned by businessman Aliff Syukri

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ferrari 458 Italia, which was burnt in a fire, belonged to businessman Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri.

The New Straits Times Press reported the incident on Thursday, which happened at Km39.5 of the Kesas Highway from Persiaran Kewajipan heading towards the Sunway toll plaza, here.

Selangor Fire and Rescue deputy director (operations) Mohd Rizal Buang said he understood the driver was not at the location when firemen arrived.

The mystery of who the Ferrari belonged to was solved when Aliff, in an Instagram post yesterday, expressed his sadness over the Ferrari incident, indirectly confirming that the burnt luxury sports car belonged to him.

In the Instagram post, Aliff uploaded a video of himself, sitting in a vehicle, attempting to hold back tears. The camera then panned away from him and the next scene showed a burning Ferrari by the roadside.

The caption that accompanied the video said: “I’m a weak man.. God please strengthen my spirit.. What should I do, my favourite car, I bought it for RM1.8 million.. Not faulty, nothing, suddenly exploded and caught fire.”

Selangor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Superintendent Azman Shariat said in the 4pm incident yesterday, the car caught fire while it was driven by a 29-year-old Australian when flames started coming out of its exhaust.

The driver, Alladin El Mir, luckily noticed the flames and stopped the car on the emergency lane before a loud explosion was heard in less than a minute.
