JDT’s grudge match against KL

- Noor Rizar Mohd

League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) want to end their season in style when they face Kuala Lumpur at Larkin Stadium today.

KL hold the distinction of being the only club to have taken three points from JDT in the league this season, achieved in the 1-0 win in Cheras on Feb 11.

JDT coach Raul Longhi said: “We want revenge. We suffered our only league defeat to KL and we want to hit them hard tomorrow.

“The goal is to win our final league game at home. I have told my players to go for three points.

“I will field my best available players, including Marcos (Antonio) dan Gonzalo (Cabrera) who both did not play in our recent 2-1 away win over Perak SEDC,” said Longhi.

A win over KL will see JDT ending their season with 59 points, breaking their record by one point when they won the league in 2016.

“It will not be an easy game. KL have many good players. KL will be motivated as they had beaten us before.

“We cannot take them for granted as players like Guilherme de Paula, Paulo Josue and Zaquan Adha Radzak are very dangerous and they do not waste scoring opportunities,” he added.

Going by JDT’s form, it will be

very tough for KL to earn anything from this match.

For the record, JDT have only conceded one goal at home in the league this season.
