NAJIB: PEOPLE ARE UNHAPPY WITH PH
This is because status of Islam and the Malays are being threatened, says ex-PM
THE Himpunan Kebangkitan Ummah gathering at Kelab Sultan Sulaiman in Kampung Baru is proof that people are unhappy with Pakatan Harapan.
Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said this was because the government had threatened Islam and the special rights of Malays and Bumiputeras.
He said the gathering was a sure sign that the support for PH was erodand ing.
“Muslims Malays are conabout cerned what’s happening in our country after (the) May 9 (general election), where the status and future of Islam, and position of Malays are being threatened.
“People have risen and shown their anger as they are not comfortable with what’s happening,” he said after a walkabout in Kampung Jalan Kebun here yesterday.
Present were his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, and Barisan Nasional candidate for the by-election Datuk Lokman Noor Adam. On the presence of former socio-cultural adviser to the government Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim at the gathering, Najib said as someone who always fought for Bahasa Melayu, it was necessary for him to protest in public.
“His credibility would be called into question if he did not attend the gathering and voice his objections,” he said.
Lokman questioned the government’s action in focusing on providing aid only to one race.
“Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik made a U-turn when he said independent Chinese schools would receive allocations from the government.
“If these schools can get assistance from the government, what about independent Tamil schools, religious schools and the like?”
