Reject PH candidate, says Pas info chief
KUALA LUMPUR: Pas information chief Nasrudin Hassan has urged party supporters to reject PKR’s Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni, who is contesting the Sungai Kandis by-election.
Pas, Nasrudin said, would campaign to ensure that Pakatan Harapan was defeated in the byelection.
“This is our stand. We believe that if PH wins Sungai Kandis, it will show that even with its failure to fulfil the promises it made in the 14th General Election (GE14), it would still be accepted.
“We want PH to lose Sungai Kandis. This is my stand.
“This is the question I am posing to Pas voters in Sungai Kandis.
“If we are indifferent, then PH wins,” he told the crowd during the Himpunan Kebangkitan Ummah gathering at Kelab Sultan Sulaiman yesterday.
The gathering was attended by about 300 non-governmental organisations and 2,000 people.
Present was Barisan Nasional’s Sungai Kandis by-election candidate Datuk Lokman Noor Adam.
The by-election was called following the death of its assemblyman, Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei, from lymphoma on July 2.
It is a three-cornered fight between Zawawi, Lokman and independent candidate K. Murthy.
In GE14, Shuhaimi defended his seat with 23,998 votes against BN’s Datuk Kamaruzzaman Johari (11,518), Pas’ Mohd Yusof Abdullah (7,573) and Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hanafiah Husin (76).
