Zawawi: Four plans to empower youth
SHAH ALAM: Programmes aimed at empowering youth, especially in rural areas, will be organised to encourage them to take charge of their lives and become leaders in future.
PKR candidate for the Sungai Kandis by-election Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said four plans would be implemented in the constituency if he was given the mandate.
“We will hold training programmes and courses on character building to produce a highcalibre generation.
“We will emphasise sports development and entertainment, as well as entrepreneurship.
“These will enhance youth’s skills and help them be independent in society.
“We want to educate youth to socialise and participate in activities, which will mould them into future leaders.
“It will also address the issue of unemployment faced by youth in Sungai Kandis,” he said at a press conference in Taman Sri Andalas yesterday.
He said improvements would be carried out, especially in rural areas that lacked recreation and activity centres.
“Educated and highly-skilled youth are the country’s asset for the future. The Pakatan Harapan government has taken proactive measures by providing opportunities for youth.
“It is the seventh day (of campaigning) today. I met voters in rural and urban areas, and, Alhamdullilah, their support is encouraging. It makes me feel as if I have won. It is not good to boast, actually,” he said in jest.
Zawawi urged the public to exercise their right to vote as citizens in a democratic country.
“This is our duty and responsibility. Those eligible to vote must do so. If we do not, we may regret and will be blamed if a less preferable leader is elected.”
