POLICE GAIN FLEET OF ‘HIGHWAY EAGLES’

THE police have received 15 units of the Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4-litre vehicles from expressway operator PLUS Malaysia Bhd.

Inspector-general of police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said the sport utility vehicles (SUVs) would be known as “Police Highway Eagles” and enhance effectiven­ess in enforcing traffic laws during festive seasons.

“These vehicles were contribute­d to police to be used as Expressway Mobile Patrol Vehicle (EMPV),” said Mohamad Fuzi.

The handover ceremony was held at Persada PLUS, Subang Jaya.

Also present were Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) officials.

“We are delighted to know that besides being one of the best safety specced vehicles on the road, the Outlander is meeting every requiremen­t to assist police with the enforcemen­t of traffic laws on the highway.

“We are confident that the Outlander will do its part in assisting our policemen to eradicate traffic offences and eventually lower the risk of road accidents,” said Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia chief executive officer Tomoyuki Shinnishi.

In a separate ceremony, police received another eight Mitsubishi cars consisting of Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4-litre and Mitsubishi ASX Compact SUVs contribute­d by highway concession­aire ANIH Bhd.

The contributi­on made by these two highway concession­s were worth at an estimated RM3 million.

The Mitsubishi Outlander recently received the “Family SUVs of Malaysia” award at the Cars of Malaysia Awards 2018.
