Wan Azizah: My support is for all PKR members

-

SHAH ALAM: PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is not taking any sides in the battle between Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Rafizi Ramli for the party’s deputy presidency.

Dr Wan Azizah, when asked to comment on the possible clash between the two in the party polls next month, declined to be drawn into the issue.

Her support, she said, was for all PKR members, adding that the party practises a democratic system.

“Competitions allow the party to grow,” she said after a high-tea event with PKR members and residents of Sungai Kandis.

Rafizi’s announcement and Azmin’s silence on his plans for the party’s leadership polls have fuelled rumours of camps forming around both men.

Dr Wan Azizah, however, dismissed the rumours of the existence of two camps in PKR.

The Pakatan Harapan president said the party required a balance between new and old faces.

“As seen in the 14th General Election, there were many new faces along with old timers. We need the old and new. It is important to have continuity.”

On the Selangor PKR Youth members who resigned from the party, Dr Wan Azizah said she would get a report on the matter.

Selangor PKR Youth secretary Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman on July 27 quit his post, claiming that “democracy is dead” in the party’s state chapter.

On July 28, Abdul Mutalib Ahmad resigned from his post as Sabak Bernam PKR Youth chief.
