Kulasegaran has lost credibility as minister, says Rais
HR minister fails to behave like a cabinet member, says PPBM member
THE backlash against Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran’s alleged pendatang remark is far from over. The latest to weigh in is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia member Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim, who took to Twitter to criticise the Ipoh Barat member of parliament.
Rais said Kulasegaran had lost his credibility as he failed to behave like a cabinet member.
He said Kulasegaran’s actions had huge implications as there were calls for his resignation due to the “rude” remark.
His tweet was accompanied by a screenshot of Sinar Harian’s front page, with the headline “Desak Letak Jawatan” (demands for resignation).
This was in reference to Umno Youth calling for Kulasegaran to resign for allegedly referring to Malays as pendatang (immigrants) in a speech in Nilai, Negri Sembilan, last week.
The minister has since apologised.
He said his speech, which was in Tamil, had been misconstrued.
He said he would leave it to the authorities to investigate following police reports lodged against him by Umno Youth.
However, he declined to comment on calls for him to resign.
“Let the investigation take place. At the moment, no comment. I do not want to comment further, otherwise something else will happen,” he said at the Parliament lobby.
