An old story repeated many times, laments engineer’s dad

-

KUANTAN: The final report on missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 did not provide satisfactory answers to the questions that the family members of those on board had expected.

Selamat Omar, 63, the father of aviation engineer Mohd Khairul Amri Selamat, described the report as an old story that was repeated several times.

“It did not provide any concrete answers to our questions since March 8, 2014 on the disappearance of the Malaysia Airlines flight with 239 people on board. When informed that a report on the fate of MH370 would be tabled, I was expecting something new, but, sadly, we already know most of the information.

“I even travelled to Putrajaya (from Bera, Pahang) to listen to the report, but there was nothing new. In fact, they do not even know the cause of the plane’s disappearance,” he said.

On Monday, the Malaysian International Civil Aviation Organisation Annex 13 Safety Investigation Team for MH370 released a report stating it was unable to determine the real cause of the disappearance of the plane, but did not rule out the possibility that an “unlawful interference” by a third party had caused the incident.

Selamat, who lives in Felda Bukit Mend, Bera, said his family would not give up hope in finding his son’s body.

“It’s like a puzzle that has to be solved. I am hoping to at least see his body, even though the chances are slim.

“I have not stopped praying. One day, I hope my prayers will be answered and everything will become reality.”
