Q: What are your development plans for Sungai Kandis?

A: I have many plans, including improving roads and traffic systems within the constituency.

I want to also fix the potholes and find ways to address congestion during peak hours.

We will look into fixing traffic lights at vital locations and expanding some roads. I also plan to synchronise the drainage system to avoid flash floods.

Q: What are the issues that you will immediately raise during the state assembly sitting if you win the by-election?

A: I will ensure that the people’s needs and their rights in Sungai Kandis will continue to be upheld.

I plan to focus on setting up more recreational centres and parks.

I feel that there is a lack of such facilities, which is sad for the youth as they are unable to carry out activities and play sports.

We will increase the number of recreation sites and improve pre-existing ones.

Q: Who is your inspiration? A: The person who has inspired me to enter politics is Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He became the face of youth and introduced me to the world of politics in 1998.

He is my first idol. The second person I look up to is Professor Datuk Dr Siddiq Fadzil. His ideas on Malay culture and his work on Islam and Malay thinking are very Q: Who is Datuk Lokman Noor Adam and why are you the best man to represent Sungai Kandis?

A: I am 45 years old. I was born in Johor, but have settled down in Selangor for 22 years. I graduated with a Master’s in Management from Universiti Tun Abdul Razak.

I was the Special Affairs Department (Jasa) director before assuming the role of the Finance Ministry strategic communication director under the previous government.

I have vast political experience since I had served as a leader in both the government and opposition fold.

I had also been detained twice under the now-repealed Internal Security Act (ISA) in 1998 and 2001, which speaks volume of my commitment in championing human rights and justice.

With my experience, I am the best person for Sungai Kandis.

Q: Why have you chosen the political route?

A: I was born a politician. At the age of 15, I started following my father, who was also in Jasa, when he gave talks.
