SSMNC 2018 explores doing business in the age of disruption

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The business landscape has changed in today’s rapidly progressing world, thanks to constantly evolving technology.

We are living in an age of disruption, where it affects the operations of businesses and organisations. The Internet is disrupting traditional retailers, while mobile devices are disrupting personal computers, and Financial technology (Fintech) is disrupting the banking industry.

With this in mind, the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), as the statutory body which regulates companies and businesses in Malaysia, is taking steps to spearhead discussions about these disruptions via its SSM National Conference 2018 (SSMNC 2018).

With the theme “Doing Business in the age of Disruption”, the signature regulatory education and networking platform will gather the best brains in the corporate world to analyse the subject.

Participants can learn about the innovative ways corporate boards operate in an information-rich world and how technology will reshape their roles, get fresh perspectives on disruption in governance and boardroom practices, as well as the boards’ role in driving innovation and responding to risks which come with disruptive technology.

They will also get first-hand insight about SSM’s submission platform, Malaysian Business Reporting System (MBRS), which allows for the annual submission filing of financial statements and reports, annual return and exemption applications, which are related to the former two.

The conference is open to company directors, company secretaries, bankers, corporate advisers, chief executive officers, chief financial officers, lawyers, auditors, compliance and risk officers, academicians, chief operating officers, fund managers, entrepreneurs, financial intermediaries, regulators or those who are keen to learn more about the subject.

Over 1,300 delegates are expected to attend the event, which will be held on Aug 14 and 15 at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre in Petaling Jaya.
