Podium finish possible for national athletes

Malaysian Jet Ski Sports Association (MJSA) believe their athletes can finish on the podium at the upcoming Indonesia Asian Games.

Tee Chen Jet, Saifullah Al-Aziz Nazar and Chia Wai Yuen are Malaysia’s representatives for the competition on Aug 23-26.

MJSA president Datuk Saffian Omar said the trio are good enough to pose a serious threat as they have been delivering medals in recent competitions.

“We are very proud to be part of the Asian Games. For the last eight years, we have been competing regularly in various meets, including in Asia and the United States.

“Our athletes have been delivering medals in most meets. For the record, we won gold medals in competitions in China (Shenzhen), Indonesia (Makassar) and Thailand (Pattaya),” said Saffian.

The trio won titles at the King’s Cup in Thailand (limited category) as well as in the stock class in China and Indonesia. Chen Jet, 25, was a star at the 2015 World Cup in Pattaya by winning a gold.

Saffian hopes his athletes can shine and win medals as the sport has been categorised under B by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM).

MJSA are not a member of the council.

He added that his athletes have been practicing their routines at the Biru Kundang Lake in Rawang and have participated in two races in Thailand this year.
