Superfood for hair
The market for products with naturally-derived ingredients is growing, writes Aznim Ruhana Md Yusup
LUX Luminique is a haircare range created using plant-derived ingredients that is also free of silicone, parabens or artificial colours. Launched in 2014, the range expanded recently to include the Superfood Series and Botanical Pure.
The Superfood Series consists of a shampoo and conditioning treatment that come in either acai berry or goji berry extract variations.
Meanwhile, the Botanical Pure range, also consisting of shampoo and conditioner, is formulated with volcano water blended with six botanical ingredients and seven essential oils.
“The market for naturally-derived ingredients has grown strongly in recent years due to consumer awareness of the importance of nutrition and healthy eating,” says Vincent Chong, marketing director of Home and Personal Care, Unilever (Malaysia) Holdings.
“Lux Luminique is created with natural ingredients in mind,” he adds. “For example, the Botanical Pure products include grape seed oil, eucalyptus, argan oil and green tea extract, as well as essential oils from orange peel, lemon, lavender, pepper and others.”
Chong says care was taken during the development process to ensure the effecIF tiveness of the products so that they are on par with the company’s conventional offerings.
“The importance of the consumer experience is equally emphasised, hence our perfumers develop specific fragrances for our products.
In addition, Lux Luminique’s longlasting dual aroma provides a moment of absolute luxury, offering a scent that lingers all day and all night.”
