‘Zawawi daydreaming if he thinks he can curb cronyism, nepotism’

-

SHAH ALAM: Barisan Nasional candidate for the Sungai Kandis by-election, Datuk Lokman Noor Adam, has warned his rival, Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni, of PKR against making sweeping statements on cronyism and nepotism.

This, he said, was because some quarters in Pakatan Harapan might not be happy with Zawawi’s plan to curb favouritism.

“Look at PKR, its president (Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail) is Pandan member of parliament (MP), while her daughter (Nurul Izzah Anwar) is Permatang Pauh MP.

“Aside from that, Nurul is also PKR vice-president.

“Then, (Prime Minister Dr) Tun Mahathir (Mohamad) is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman, while his son, (Datuk Seri) Mukhriz (Mahathir), is the deputy president.

“Same goes for DAP, which is known as the Lim dynasty’s party, dominated by the father-andson duo, Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng,” said Lokman at the Kota Raja Umno division office here yesterday.

He was responding to an earlier statement made by Zawawi, who had said he aspired to eliminate the practice of cronyism and nepotism if he won the Sungai Kandis by-election.

Lokman claimed that the practice of cronyism and nepotism in PH was also prevalent in the government administration and government-linked companies (GLCs).

“I think the PKR candidate is daydreaming and out of touch with reality. For example, the appointments within Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

“What more with several individuals who are said to be filling up important positions in the GLCs.”
