THE body of a man was discovered on the tracks, 100m from the Pusat Bandar Puchong Light Rail Transit (LRT) Station here, at 7am yesterday.

Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ismadi Borhan said a distress call was received at 7.51am.

“Upon arriving at the location, we found the body of a man on the tracks.

“No identification papers were found on the victim.”

The New Straits Times Press earlier reported that a man, believed to be an LRT passenger, was killed after he fell onto the tracks. However, initial investigation found that this might not have been the case.

Ismadi said based on a closedcircuit television camera footage, the man was first seen alighting a train.

“The victim then made his way down to the tracks before he was hit by a train. He was proclaimed dead at the scene.

“Police are investigating the cause of the incident, whether the man was drunk or wanted to commit suicide. No criminal element was found at the scene.

“The case has been classified as sudden death. The victim’s remains were sent to Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem.”

Rapid KL has informed of travel delays between the IOI Puchong Jaya Station and Pusat Bandar Puchong Station following the incident.

“Investigations are underway,” it wrote on its Twitter account.

“Rapid KL will issue an official statement soon.

“We seek everyone’s cooperation to not speculate.

“Thank you.”
