Suspect who rammed Nada officer held in Johor drug raids

-

KUALA LUMPUR: After almost a year on the run, a criminal wanted for ramming a National AntiDrug Agency (Nada) officer with his vehicle, is finally arrested.

The man, in his 30s, was also wanted for ramming several police vehicles.

But, his life on the lam came to an end when a team of Nada’s Special Tactical Response and Investigation Key Enforcers (Strike) from the agency’s headquarters and its office in Johor held raids in Segamat and Batu Anam Felda Palong Timur in Johor earlier this week.

Nada enforcement and security director Zainudin Abdullah said the man was an aggressive person, injuring Nada officers and policemen in an operation last year.

“Then, he escaped in a fourwheel-drive vehicle. But, our strike team arrested him on Monday during one of our raids.

“He was handed over to the police for further action. The suspect is also wanted for several other crimes.”

Zainudin said the Strike team’s operations were aimed at drug nests and entertainment outlets in Segamat, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru.

It was at one of these locations that they found the wanted criminal.

Zainudin said 76 drug addicts were detained during the raids.

He said Strike members also seized 1kg of cannabis, 11.69g of syabu and a small amount of heroin and Eramin-5 pills.

He said Nada would continue such operations nationwide.

“We are concerned as statistics have shown that there is a hike in the number of new addicts.”
