Modric ‘keen on Inter move’ as Serie A giants show interest

-

MADRID: Real Madrid are in danger of losing another star player with Luka Modric keen on a move to Inter Milan, according to reports in Italy.

It follows Cristiano Ronaldo swapping Spain for Italy after agreeing a move to Juventus following a trophy-laden spell at the Bernabeu.

Now Modric, who was named player of the tournament at the 2018 World Cup, reportedly wants to leave Real with Inter keen.

Sky in Italy and Gazzetta dello Sport report that Inter want to make a statement signing in midfield as they aim to topple Juve at the top of Serie A.

They already have three Croatian players — Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic and new loan signing Sime Vrsaljko from Atletico Madrid.

Now Modric — who is currently on holiday in Italy after reaching the World Cup final with Croatia — is on their radar, and according to Gazzetta is open to the switch.

Sky say the deal will be “difficult”, however, with Real opposed to losing another star after Ronaldo, who made the shock move to Juve last month.

While rumours swirled around his future, Modric and his wife Vanja Bosnic were spotted on holiday in Porto Cervo.

Modric, fresh from his excursions with the Croatian national side, is taking an extended and well-earned break from club duty enjoying the Sardinian sunshine.

His stock is high after superb performances in Russia, as Croatia beat the likes of Argentina, hosts Russia and England before losing 4-2 to France in an entertaining World Cup final in Moscow.
