will need to tighten up their defence if the former champions hope to shine in the upcoming Malaysia Cup, which is regarded as the country’s most prestigious football tournament.

Fabio Maciel’s side conceded a whopping 51 goals in the Super League where they finished 10th.

The three-time champions are in Group A in the Malaysia Cup with Super League runners-up Perak, Terengganu and Felcra.

KL goalkeeper Sharbinee Allawee Ramli, a mid season signing, said KL need to minimise mistakes at the back in order to do well in the Malaysia Cup.

“We were the second highest scoring team in the league after Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) with 39 goals, but unfortunately we conceded the most number of goals (51) and this affected our performance.

“Everyone needs to do their part whenever we are defending in matches. We need to reduce defensive errors and also work on a solid formula to be tight at the back.

“I think we have no issues in creating scoring opportunities and this will work to our advantage if we are defensively stronger.

“Maciel has been drilling us in training and I believe we will be better in the Malaysia Cup,” said Sharbinee.

The former international believes KL will advance to the quarter-finals from their group.

“There are no favourites in our group. Every team have their strengths and weaknesses. Felcra could surprise the form book... they will be motivated after finishing second in the Premier League,” Sharbinee added. Challenge Cup
