ONE of the writers behind celebrity fashion website GoFugYourself.com has a thing for saying how patterns on certain outfits would look great as wallpaper. She’s a fan of vibrant colours and striking prints in garments and interior design, and so, odd as it may sound, that statement is a compliment.

But while you can’t get dresses as wallpaper, you can now get wallpaper as dresses.

Swedish retailer H&M has announced its collaboration with British wallpaper and textile house GP & J Baker to release a womenswear collection using prints from the company’s archives. Considering that GP & J was founded in 1884, the design inspiration goes way back.

From its Press release, “The GP & J Baker prints used throughout the collection embrace some of the most-loved from the house along with those sourced from its vast archive. Included are prints like Magnolia, which William Turner painted for G P & J Baker in 1913.”

“The classic Oriental Bird, Blossom and Hydrangea Bird, which are mixed with strong geometric patterns such as Fretwork, (is) a homage to the decorative inlay work of the Art Deco designer Jean Durand.”

The collection features several tops, dresses and trousers in soft, flowy fabric.

The silhouettes are relaxed and voluminous with feminine details such as puff shoulders, lace inserts and balloon sleeves.

Prices range from RM44.95 to RM184.95. The collection is available at all H&M stores and online at hm.com.
