What makes you beautiful

CELEBRITIES may not be walking encyclopaedias on looking fabulous but since they are in showbusiness which requires them to look presentable at all times, they would know a thing or two about beauty.

We’re used to hearing words of advice about beauty from make-up artistes but what do celebrities say?

Here are some words of wisdom from local as well as Hollywood celebrities.

They may not always be right but they do make sense. Ready for some beauty wisdom?

This mother-of-two is fabulous, down-to-earth and beautiful in-and-out. The actress- Meghan Markle banks on her smile.

singer is a non-believer in heavy make-up except when necessary.

“A lot of women try to hide their flaws through make-up. But make-up is counterproductive when it comes to taking care of your skin. Use make-up only when you really need to. Otherwise, skip it and use sunglasses if you have to!”

Her beauty pet-peeve is definitely wearing too much make-up. “I categorise my looks as ‘photoshoot make-up’ or ‘face-to-face make-up’. When working with make-up artists, I make sure to clarify which make-up I want, depending on the events that I will be attending.

“Photoshoot make-up is heavy and looks good on camera, but it’s too much for me when I have to attend events. I want to look decent and presentable, so opting for a face-toface make-up, which is lighter, is good,” she says.

When it comes to finding the right skincare, Diana says: “Invest time in finding the right skincare. This will save you a lot of money and a lot of problems in the long run,” she said. “Beauty is not just on the outside but also comes from within. Obviously you need a good skincare to achieve that. Also, make sure you’re always happy and always smile!

“Never sleep with make-up on. And wear a mask once a week.”

Her beauty pet-peeve? “I don’t like eyeliners!”

I love actress Nabila Huda for her stand against whitening products. Despite society’s obsession with fair skin, Nabila wants women to be proud of their natural skin tone.

As a person with tanned skin myself, it feels good when a public figure like her stands up for those with darker skin.

“Girls, we are born with the most beautiful skin colour. Wherever you travel to, everyone falls in love with the shade of our skin, so be proud of it,” she said.

Now this little nugget of advice is a little different as it comes from a male celebrity.

Actor Zoey, who also sells unisex cosmetic products called Mikaseries, wants men to not be afraid in pampering themselves and taking care of their appearance.

“Men want nice, clear skin too. We want to look as good as women. What’s wrong with wearing cosmetics for that?

“Do what you think is best for you - even if it draws negative attention from others,” he said.

Hollywood actress-turnedprincess Meghan Markle’s top beauty advice for women all around the world is to smile.

Everyone looks prettier when they smile, she says. And perhaps curl your eyelashes, too. “I always think that makes you look more awake,” she said.
