Umno leaders’ statements criticised

-

SHAH ALAM: Kota Raja Umno Youth has slammed party leadership and former ministers who came out with statements detrimental to Umno.

Its chief, Sheikh Weshal Sheikh Ahmad, said he was aware of those who put up a front when Najib campaigned in the Sungai Kandis by-election, but did not attend any of the programmes.

“Umno has been, for months, without direction. Their duty is to help Umno president (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) rejuvenate the pary.

“Will blaming Najib secure a win for Umno, Barisan Nasional or Pas in the Balakong and Seri Setia by-elections?”

He said Umno’s leadership must draft strategies to revive the party.

“Enough with the politics and attitude as if Umno is in power.

“Do realise that we have lost and were rejected by the people.

“We are sick of the politics that harms the party.

“Party members won’t see the point of remaining in Umno that has not changed.”

He was referring to statements by Umno secretarygeneral Tan Sri Annuar Musa and Federal Territory liaison chief Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, who blamed and described former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the party’s “baggage”.

Annuar reportedly said Umno could no longer waste time defending the former party president.

He described Najib, who was facing seven criminal breach of trust charges, as “baggage” that Umno could no longer carry.

Johari reportedly questioned the party’s decision to allow Najib to campaign in the Sungai Kandis by-election.
