I’m focusing on responsibility, not position, says Nurul Izzah

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar said she is not after any position in the party, despite her intent on defending her vice-president’s post in the party polls this November.

The member of parliament for Permatang Pauh, who is believed to be aligned with the Kem Reformasi 20 Tahun led by outgoing PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli, declined to elaborate.

Nurul said she was tired of answering media enquiries repeatedly.

“That is your obsession. Refer to my tweet. I have submitted my form to defend the vice-president’s post. I am focusing on the responsibility and not the post.”

She was speaking after attending the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Driver’s TVET seminar by Mimos Bhd here yesterday.

On Aug 5, Nurul in a Twitter posting announced that she was submitting her nomination form to defend her post. The nomination form was submitted through her representative, PKR information communication chief Fahmy Fadzil.

She wrote: “Hopefully will be given the space and mandate. We need to strengthen the idealism, launch the party’s start in April 1999, and always focus on the people. #Reformasi”

Nurul also kept mum when asked whether she would step down from her parliamentary seat to make way for her father, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“I had commented on this question several times and it’s quite adequate. The media can refer to my reply two days ago because the same question was asked on many occasions. So, I think it’s enough for me to answer it once. Insya Allah, I will focus on my job,” she said.
