PPBM: Stop slandering in the heat of polls

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has asked PKR leaders, especially those taking part in the party’s polls, not to slander the leaders of other parties in Pakatan Harapan.

PPBM supreme council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan advised his PKR colleagues to be more “civilised” when speaking about the leaders of other PH component parties.

He said certain PKR leaders needed to be more respectful of the friendship that exists within PH and not drag other parties’ leaders into whatever issues they were facing.

“I was bemused by the comments of some PKR leaders who accused the prime minister of trying to block Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from becoming a national leader. In your zeal in trying to win positions in your party, look after your own party and don’t slander the leaders of other parties.

“Wild accusations and slander may be the culture of others, but we in (PPBM) were taught by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to respect the friendship within PH.

“While we respect the friendships we have built, don’t let there be other leaders who go about slandering others just to slake their lust for worldly positions.

“This sort of attitude is not the sort of culture we want to build in PH. Don’t drag others into whatever factional issues you have in your own party,” he said.

PKR’s Kapar member of parliament Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid, who is contesting a position in the party polls, had alleged that there was an effort by certain quarters to block Anwar from taking over as prime minister from Dr Mahathir.

A video clip, which has been making the rounds on social media, showed Abdullah claiming that there were many people who were trying to do so.
